Provision of new primary AGL approach cable across a dock cutting, including new submersed ducting and associated infrastructure. The primary power and control circuit serving the approach lights must be of sufficient capacity and reliability to ensure uninterrupted service.
This project involved replacement of an aging 27-circuit primary approach cable. The cable routing presented unique challenges — it required crossing the King George V Dock, necessitating submersed ducting installations and careful coordination with maritime operations. The work required removal of existing cable, installation of new submersed cable ducting across the dock, installation of new 27-circuit primary cable, and testing and commissioning to aviation electrical standards.
Careful planning and coordination were required to minimise disruption to maritime operations and airfield lighting service. Quant Measur managed the commercial and cost aspects throughout.
